A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 16  elections has promised to give top priority to jobs creation if elected.
Atiku, who made the pledge on Monday in Lokoja during the PDP presidential campaign flag off, lamented the current high rates of unemployment and resultant poverty prevalent in the country.
He assured that his administration would ensure the revival of the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Complex which he noted, has the potential of generating millions of jobs for the people and boosts the nation’s economy.
According to him, his administration would restructure Nigeria in such a way that the people of Kogi State would enjoy maximum benefits of the abundant resources the state is endowed with.
Atiku, who decried the high level of hunger, poverty, insecurity and hardships under the APC-led government, urged the people of Kogi State to vote for all PDP candidates from “top to bottom” in the forthcoming election to change the negative narrative and get “Nigeria working again”.
The Director General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki urged people of the state to vote for PDP candidates adding that they should resist the temptation of exchanging their votes for the ruling party’s “trader moni”.
Former Governor of Kogi State and Chairman of the PDP Presidential  Campaign Council in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris aka Ibro, in his remarks urged people of the state to vote massively for Atiku and all candidates to bring an end to hunger and suffering the ruling party had inflicted on them over the past three and half years.
He urged people of the state not sell their votes, saying they should not succumb to any form of intimidation in the forthcoming elections.
On his part, former Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State described Atiku as the best man that can fix and get Nigeria working again and urged supports for him and all other candidates of the PDP.
The rally which held at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium witnessed turnout of mammoth crowd of PDP stalwarts, supporters and enthusiasts from across the state and beyond.
