Aspirant asks court to strip Badaru of candidature

A governorship aspirant of the APC in Jigawa State, Pharm. Hashim Ubale Yusufu, has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to nullify the party’s primary which produced Gov. Mohammed Badaru as candidate.

Pharm. Yusufu also demanded a perpetual injunction restraining INEC and the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, from receiving and further recognising Gov. Badaru as the APC gubernatorial candidate for Jigawa State in the 2019 general elections.

Yusufu, in an originating summons by his lawyer, Mohammed Yunusa, is contending that the purported primary that produced Gov. Badaru as candidate is not in compliance with sections 42(1), 222(b), 223(1)(a), 223(2)(a) and 228(b) of the Nigerian Constitution; Section 85(3) of the Electoral Act, 2010 and Articles 9.1(i-iv), 17(i) and 20 (a), i), (ii), (iii), (v) of the APC Constitution 2014.

No date has been fixed for hearing.
