“At the inception of the programme during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, there was a directive for the army to be involved in the programme,” Ihejirika said during a visit to the Environment Minister, Hajiya Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafia.
He said that the army could assist in the provision of security, sinking of boreholes, construction of access roads, undertaking of soil investigations among other tasks as part of its community service component in the programme.
