Army launches awareness campaign against insurgency ideologies

The Nigerian Army has commenced a month-long enlightenment programme against ideologies perpetuated by insurgents in the Northeast.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai Buratai, who indicated this while delivering his address at a programme organized by Army Headquarters yesterday, said the campaign was necessary to further weaken the hold that the Boko Haram sect might have established on the people’s mind.

The COAS who was represented by Chief of Training and Logistics Army Headquarters, Maj. Gen. David Ahmad, enjoined parents to prioritise the upbringing of their children to enable them become meaningful citizens.

He said, “Traditional and religious leaders, clergymen, and all relevant stakeholders must put their heads  together, put their differences aside and  build a united Nigeria.”

In his remark, Governor Kashim Shettima who was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan said the state government was ready to partner with all stakeholders in the fight against Boko Haram.
