Troops of the Nigerian Army 177 Guards Battalion yesterday in conjunction with the Nigeria Police arrested five suspected militia members in Nasarawa State.
A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, said the suspects were apprehended while troops were on a raid in Ugyi town, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Chukwu said the suspects, who were all from Gbassa tribe of the state included, Mr James Job, Usman Unani, Samson Baba, Muhammad Sani and Dauda Gimba.
According to him items recovered were, ýone Daihatsu SUV jeep, seven motorcycles, six Dane guns, ýone locally made revolver pistol and ýfour 9mm rounds of ammunition and a cartridge.
Other weapons recovered wereý twenty six daggers, with names and phone numbers written on each, ýone sword, forty pieces of customized regalia, some cash as well as assorted charms.
He said the suspects would be handed over to appropriate authority on completion of investigation.
Chukwu called on the public to report any suspicious movement to law enforcement agents for necessary action.
