Aregbesola’s chief of staff picks Osun guber forms

Alhaji Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, the Chief of Staff, to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, on Wednesday obtained the governorship nomination and expression of interest forms at the APC secretariat in Abuja.

Oyetola, who fielded questions from journalists on the raging zoning controversy, said it was not in the All Progressives Congress (APC) constitution.

He also dismissed the insinuation that he was the anointed candidate of Governor Aregbesola.

“Because I’m involved, I don’t want to talk much on that. But zoning is actually not in APC constitution. I’m a loyal member of APC. On being anointed, I wonder why people do a lot of insinuations. With my 30 years’ experience in private sector and eight years in public service, I’m eminently qualified to govern the state.

“An anointed candidate will just sit in the room. But I’m working very hard to sell myself and my brand. Our campaigns are unparalleled as you see excitement on faces of people in the west, east and central senatorial districts,” he said.

He said that as chief of staff to the governor, he was involved in policy formulation and the execution of programmes.

Oyetola said that he was ready to sustain the legacies of the current government in the areas of infrastructural development, agriculture, and education among others by building on the already established programmes.

“I believe I’m still the best in terms of experience because Chief of Staff is like the engine room. I’m a better administrator by any standard. The governor has been successful. There is no way the governor will do well without the Chief of Staff. If you talk of continuity, Oyetola is the answer,” he said when told that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives said that he remained the best person for the job.

While hailing the governor for laying foundation for economic growth through massive investment in infrastructure, he pledged to involve people in projects sourcing and implementation.
