APGA scribe murdered, corpse thrown into river Niger

The secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Oroma Etiti Community, Anambra West local government area,  Julius Chinwuba has allegedly been murdered and his corpse thrown into River Niger.


The deceased, who was until his death, the President General of the community, was said to have been murdered two days to the conduct of the recently gubernatorial election in the state.

Daily Trust learnt that the remains of the deceased was discovered by some members of the community.


"He had attended a meeting convened by the members of his Umunzu kindred on that faithful day, where he was said to have been clubbed to death before being tied hands and legs together with bags of sand and blocks and thrown into the river," the source said.

Some prominent personalities in the area who had running battles with him, demanding that he surrendered the position of President General, have been accused of being responsible for the sudden death.

Daily trust further gathered that his house was allegedly burnt, and farms destroyed, prior to his death, all in attempt to compel him to surrender both positions of the President General and party scribe, zoned to his kindred, which he won convincingly.

When contacted, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Nwozekwe Okeke, regretted that the police in the state were yet to effect any arrest in connection with the incident.

He expressed the challenge before the community in apprehending the suspects who were presently at large, saying it was only the police who could go after them.

Reacting, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nkeiru Nwode, said she could not speak elaborately on the matter.
