APC victory in Bayelsa, Kogi guber polls historic – Yobe gov

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni yesterday described the victory of the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States as historic and a watershed.

Buni, in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Abdullahi Bego, congratulated President Muhammad Buhari and the APC for “the massive endorsement” the people of Bayelsa and Kogi States gave the party as well as the trajectory of the APC-led leadership under the president.

He rejoiced with Bayelsa Governor-Elect David Lyon and with the people of the state for “proving that change was possible and that Bayelsa is poised for meaningful socio-economic progress having been left behind for many years under successive PDP-led administrations.”

Buni, a former national secretary of the APC, also rejoiced with Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for his re-election, describing the party’s victory in the state as an endorsement of the policies and values of the party as well as the work Bello had started to move the state forward.

He saluted the electorate in both two states for their resilience and active participation in the elections despite pockets of untoward incidents, describing the voter participation in the two states as testament to the growth and flowering of democracy in the country.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for the successful conduct of the elections.

Buni prayed Almighty Allah grant the two governors-elect the strength and wisdom to successfully steer the affairs of their states for the next four years.
