The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said yesterday that the list of its candidates for the governorship, National Assembly, and House of Assembly have been processed by the National Working Committee (NWC) according to the INEC guidelines.

All political parties had up to today to submit names of their gubernatorial and House of Assembly candidates ahead of 2019 general elections.

The political parties had submitted names of their presidential and National Assembly candidates to INEC on Oct. 18.  The INEC timetable and schedule of activities indicated that presidential and National Assembly candidates or their parties had up to Nov. 17 to withdraw from the race or replace their flag bearers.

Gubernatorial or House of Assembly candidates could withdraw from the race or be replaced latest by Dec. 1.

Apparently to perfect the necessary forms to be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today, the governors of Kaduna and Adamawa States Nasir El-Rufai and Jibrilla Bindow were sighted at the party’s national secretariat on Wednesday’s night.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu,  had in a statement issued yesterday also clarified the conflicting interpretations that greeted the recent verdict of the Supreme Court on the contentions among party members in Rivers State chapter.

Issa-Onilu said the Supreme Court’s verdict had nothing to do with  the primaries conducted for the governorship and legislative positions in the state. He, therefore, said the candidature of Arch. Tonye Cole along with his running mate, Hon. Victor Giadom remained inviolate.

The statement tiled ‘Re: Supreme Court Ruling on Rivers APC’ said the clarification was necessary.

“The list of our candidates for the governorship, National Assembly, and House of Assembly have been processed by the National Working Committee (NWC) according to the INEC guidelines.

“Our party appreciates the support of the good people of Rivers State and their commitment towards the victory of our governorship candidate, Arch. Tonye Cole and other APC candidates at all levels in the 2019 elections.

“A progressive leadership under the APC beckons and the people of Rivers State are poised to effect a change to move the beleaguered state to a path of progress and development,” he said.

The APC spokesman was however silent on the gubernatorial candidature in Zamfara and Imo states.
