Former states chairmen of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of the political party that merged to form the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have called on APC-led government to constitute a reconciliation committee ahead of the 2019 general elections.
They said it was important in order to address the issue of aggrieved party members as a preparatory measures for a swift victory in 2019.
This was disclosed by the chairman of all former CPC chairmen forum and an elder in Kano APC, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago during a press briefing held in Kano to disclose the outcome of the forum’s meeting held in Abuja.
According to him, many aspirants have been offended during the primaries of the party, adding that there was a strong need for the APC, as a viable political party, to constitute a reconciliation committee to address the aggrieved party members’ issue for positive results.
He added that based on the confidence bestowed on the party’s ability to make the needed change, 21 former CPC state chairmen have met to offer their genuine recommendations for a better APC-led government, stressing that it is high time for them to make a move in saving the party ahead of 2019 general elections.
“We owe it a duty upon ourselves to come up with recommendations that will assist this government led by our party to victory,” he said. “We have suggested for a stronger empowerment programme, stronger and effective security system, effective power supply system and meaningful consideration to party members who have contributed in one way or the other in making it what it is today among other issues.
“We have written to those concerned and we hope our recommendations will see the light of the day for our party to move forward,” said Zago.
