Anti-Gbajabiamila group protests at N/Assembly

The group, under the name of Buhari/Osinbajo Coalition Group, said the party must allow a transparent process, devoid of interference, that would lead to the emergence of a House speaker today.
Coordinator of the group, Yusuf Nadabo, said their protest was prompted by the way and manner Gbajabiamila emerged as the party’s adopted candidate which, it said, was not done in the spirit of fairness to the other aspirant.
“It is going to be disturbing if eventually we come to hear that an adoption or imposition was made. We have a fear of going back to the people to answer these questions, that is why we want a proper and fair election just as it were in the 7th Assembly,” the coordinator said.
He explained that the group decided to stage a peaceful protest to the Assembly as a way of expressing their disapproval of the party’s approach to the issue.
An official of the Sergeant-at-Arms division of the National Assembly, addressed the protesters and called on them to remain calm as the House Standing Rules are clear on the emergence of its leadership.
