Dr. Ifeanyi Okonkwo has emerged the Action Democratic Party (ADP) gubernatorial candidate for the November 18, Anambra gubernatorial election.
In a statement, the party’ Director of Media, Kayode Jacobs, said in a primary election conducted by the party and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the police and the DSS, Dr Ifeanyi Okonkwo secured 1062 out of a total of 1072 accredited votes to pick the party’s ticket.
He added that in line with the party’s constitution, elections were conducted in designated centers at each of the three senatorial districts in the state.
Results were later moved to Awka, where final compilation was done and Dr. Ifeanyi Okonkwo was ratified as having been duly returned.
After his formal presentation to the congress by the National Secretary, Dr James Okoroma, Dr. Ifeanyi Reginald Okonkwo thanked members of the party for electing him as the governorship candidate of the party.
He promised to turn around the state economy, create employment, rebuild infrastructure and ensure security of lives and property.
