AMCON refunds N282.5 m to Zamfara after property auction

The Assets Management Cooperation of Nigeria (AMCON) yesterday refunded N282.5m to the Zamfara State government after property belonging to the state were auctioned in a move to recover debts owed by the former governor, Abdulaziz Yari’s administration.

The Director General, Press Affairs in the state, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, said the money was refunded to the state government through a letter addressed to Governor Bello Mohammed  Matawalle jointly  signed by the corporation’s Inter Governmental relations  officer, Mr Saad Ahmed and head of legal department, Mr Albert Nwanzie . The letter was dated August 16, 2019 .

The cheques were presented to Governor Matawalle by the Inter Governmental relations officer of the corperation,  Mr Saad Ahmed in Kano.

Receiving the draft cheques, Matawalle said his administration would  continue to revisit all auctions made on government property with a view of recovering all funds wrongly or illegally deducted from the state by banks, companies or AMCON.
