The Bayelsa State House Assembly yesterday suspended Walton Liverpool as the Executive Secretary of the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) over all alleged illegal award of contracts.
This followed a motion by the leader of the house, Monday Bubou Obolo.
The house also invited the Commissioner for Education, Jonathan Obuebite, the chairman and directors of projects in the SUBEB as well as members of the state tender board to appear before a special house committee headed by the Deputy Speaker Abraham Ngobere for explanation on the contracts awarded by Liverpool.
The suspended executive secretary is the husband of Governor Seriake Dickson’s sister and had been heading the board since 2012 when Dickson assumed office.
