Al-Makura gives end-of-year bonus to workers

The staff, from management to lower cadre, received the total sum of N5 million which was distributed to them as part of government’s appreciation for their performance in the year 2013 ended this week. The amount rose from N4 million, which was given to the workers in 2012 as both bonus and incentives to boost productivity at the ministry which has come to be popularly known as “Petro Ministry” in the state, because of the revenue that yields from there.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura had approved the bonus pay to the staffs following the ministry’s ground breaking performance in the implementation of the 2012 budget, according to the commissioner, Sonny Agassi, who had explained that the ministry recorded over and above the budgetary estimates for revenue accruals on ground rents that year.
Numbers at the ministry show that the state raked in N360 million in 2012, showing a leap over and above the receipts of 2011 which was only N34 million.
This year, the ministry was targeting about N500 million in lands charges alone, by last week, although the numbers are yet to be out.
This record, which is also the biggest leap ever recorded by the ministry since the creation of Nasarawa, 16 years ago, has also far surpassed the total revenue anticipation of the year.
Records obtained from the ministry in October showed that only nine months into 2013, the ministry recorded over and above the total revenue proceeds of 2012, netting in over N325 million, with the month of September alone fetching in the sum of N69,409,178.03, over and above the quarterly generation of the previous year. The total revenue receipts for the 12 months of 2011 stood at N34,810,681.02.
