To reduce the rate of unemployment, the Abuja Enterprise Agency last year trained about 2000 youth on different skills.
The AEA Managing Director, Mallam Muhammed Tukur Arabi, stated this during the graduation of a set of 150 participants which was held at the agency’s complex Friday.
Represented by the Principal Manager AEA, Mr Chudi Ezerigwe, the MD said the agency decided to train more youth in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship as white collar jobs are no longer readily available.

“We decided to do the training because white collar jobs are not readily available and young people are beginning to show that they have the capacity to make things happen, so with good mentoring, they will excel.
“With this training, we believe the young graduates that are looking for jobs, have acquired skills and will work for themselves,” he said.
One of the participants, Nasidi Adam, who learnt paint making and POP installation, said with the skills he has acquired, he will be a good entrepreneur.
Sharfatu Kabiru who learnt cosmetic production, said she hopes to be one of the best natural organic cream producers in Nigeria. “We had the practical lessons for one week and then the entrepreneurship class was for one week. I believe entrepreneurship is the best solution to Nigeria’s unemployment problem.”
Another participant, Okoro Edem, said with what he learnt, he can make shoes and bags. “I am grateful to the AEA for giving me this opportunity, to be among the trainees. When I start, I will be able to come out with my own designs that will help me earn a living for myself,” he said.
The participants were trained in paint making, POP installation (building and construction), beauty and make-up, tailoring, leather works and production of cosmetics.
