Aduda who stated this at presentation of trophy to the winner of 2013 talent hunt basketball competition he organised for youths from the six area councils identified sports as a means of engaging youths thereby guiding them against social vices.
“If are youths are gainfully engage in sports and other productive ventures, our society will be a better place. This inter area council sports activities has brought up skilful youths that will represent FCT and Nigeria in an international competitions,” Aduda said.
Aduda who was represented by his senior legislative aide, Danjuma Kawu, implored youths to always be law abiding and respect constituted authorities.
The Coordinator, Senator Aduda Basket Ball Competition, Season 1, Mr Tonye Ikibah said the organising committee is delighted to put teams in place in various area councils of FC and urged the youth to unite and work harder for a better FCT.
According to the coordinator, “The ultimate aim of harnessing these men and women was to get people from the grass root and develop a platform for them to excel, to this you can be rest assured that youth restiveness will be minimise,” Tonye said.
A captain of one of the teams, Samuel Danjuma, said FCT commended the lawmaker for the initiative and called on spirited Nigerians and organisations to invest in youth development programmes, through sport.
