ActionAid tasks journalists on peace building

The Country Director,  ActionAid Nigeria, Mrs Ene Obi, yesterday urged  journalists to give attention to reports that would build peace, prevent violent extremism and ensure conflict resolution in communities.

Obi, represented by  Funmilayo Oyefusi, ActionAid Director of Organizational Effectiveness, gave the charge in Karu, Nasarawa State, at a media training session on Advanced Conflict Sensitive Reporting for selected journalists from Kogi and Nasarawa States.

She said reports on violence and crisis situations must be balanced and accurate.

Anicetus Atakpu, Resilience Programme Coordinator of ActionAid, noted that the phase II of its System and Structures Strengthening Approach Against Radicalization to Violent Extremism, was aimed at strengthening community resilience against violent extremism in kogi and Nassarawa States.
