Action will continue today in the maiden edition of the GP777 Football Academy scouting tournament at the popular ‘snake farm’ sports facility located along Abuja-Keffi highway.

The scouting exercise commenced yesterday with no fewer than 20 football academies across the country playing under the watchful eyes of the foreign scouts who are in the country to select players for possible transfer to European clubs.

Today which is day two of the programme  will see more of the over youth 50 clubs treading tackles just as more foreign scouts and technical directors of European clubs arrived Abuja yester night to hunt for talents.

Sponsor of the tournament and president of GP777 Football Academy Jos, Dr. Stephanie Okpanachi told Daily Trust yesterday that she wants to give talented youths in Nigeria the opportunity to realize their dreams to play professional football abroad.

She also said GP777 is all about youth empowerment because apart from football, her organization is into empowering youths with entrepreneur skills.

“GP777 is out to empower the teeming youth of Nigeria. We have abundant talents but without programmes like this, many of them won’t put such talent to good use.

“I am happy with what I have seen today (yesterday). When we resume tomorrow, (today), more teams will play and I am confident more hidden talents would be discovered,” she said.

Football academies from other West Africa countries like Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire are taking part in the scouting programme.
