Nineteen persons have been killed in an accident that occurred at Igoneki in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State.
It was gathered that the accident happened when a commercial bus, with registration number ABD 206XA heading towards Auchi had a head-on collision with a truck with registration number DRZ347 XA.
A witness said 16 passengers died on the spot, three others later died in the hospital while eight others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Confirming the accident, spokesperson of the Edo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mr George Otoaviokhai, attributed the accident to dangerous overtaking on the part of the bus driver.
