The chairman of Abuja Islamic Development Foundation (AIDF), Malam Muhammad Lawan Muhammad, has said the construction of a proposed N2 billion hospital by the group was to complement the effort of both private and public hospitals in the FCT.
Muhammad, who stated this during a fund raising/ground breaking of the proposed hospital in Gwagwalada on Saturday, said the hospital, which will have 150 bed spaces was to cater for the less privileged and the downtrodden at lower charges.
He said the women chapter of the Abuja Muslim community conceived the idea of establishing a hospital.
Also speaking, a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the foundation, Hajiya Halima Sa’eed, said there are many ways through which Muslims could contribute to the development of the society, saying the step towards establishing a hospital was one of the ways to help the society.
She said the hospital, if completed would serve both Muslims and non-Muslims.
In her remarks, the chairperson of the occasion, Dr. Maryam Larai Adamu, urged the Muslim Ummah to use the project to gain more rewards from Allah.
