Abuja agency gives 223 FCT residents business grants

The Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) has given 223 residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), drawn from seven cooperatives, grants to boost their businesses.
The residents comprised market women and people living with disabilities from the six area councils of the FCT.
The entrepreneurs were given the sum of N20,000 each during the launching of the One-Stop-Shop at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, yesterday.
While presenting the money to the beneficiaries, the Managing Director of the AEA, Mal Muhammed Tukur Arabi, said the gesture was part of the agency’s Micro Business Support Funds (MBSF) support to boost small businesses in the territory.
“To mark the occasion of the launching of the One-Stop-Shop, the agency is giving the grant of N20,000 each to 223 market women who are members of seven cooperatives, who include people living with disabilities,” Arabi said.
The Chairman, People with Disabilities, Gwagawalada area council, who is also the chair of Zumuchi Cooperative Group, Hassan Abdullahi, expressed delight over the gesture.
“This money that they have given us today will help me boost my business and also that of the other members of the cooperative,” he said.
The establishment of the One-Stop-Shop will help to provide Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) the support services they need, such as access to finance, enterprise development and regulatory support in areas such as business registration, tax related issues and export promotion amongst others.
