ABU, Kadpoly, Unilorin, Unimaid, RSU win performance award

Five higher institutions across the country have worn the2018 National Tertiary Admissions’ Performance Award in different nominated brackets.

Each of the winners, was given a certificate and the cash prize of N25 million by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), at brief award ceremony in Abuja.


University of Ilorin (Unilorin), emerged as the Most Subscribed Institution with a total of 86,401 candidates out of which it enlisted about 10,000. On the other hand, Kaduna Polytechnic (Kadpoly), won the award of the Most National Institution in terms of Spread of Intakes. The institution admitted candidates from each of the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

With a total of 37 students from different countries in the 2018 admission exercise, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) was adjudged the Institution with the Highest Number of Admission of International Students. Also, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, won the Most Improved Institution over previous year in Intake of Female Students. It had 2,508 females out the 5,416 students admitted in 2018.

The prize for the Most Compliant Institution in keeping within the guidelines, rules and regulations of admission, was grabbed by University of Maiduguri (Unimaid).  The institutions hasn’t violated any of the admission guidelines, according to JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo represented by Special Adviser on National Social Welfare Programme, Maryam Uwais, said  as important as who and what operates and are obtained in tertiary institutions are, the access, ways and manners of recruitment of employees, admissions of students, sustenance of the employees and students and their exit should also carry the same importance.
