Abia: Ufomba defies APGA, steps up guber campaign

Otti had defected to APGA from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he had aspired for the party’s guber ticket.
Ufomba who started his campaign for Abia North senatorial zone at the Central School Alayi, Bende LGA, yesterday, lamented that the economy of the state has been destroyed leading to the imposition of  levies on the people coupled with poor infrastructure which, he says, has driven away prospective investors from the state.
He promised to lay the foundation of the development of Abia State on a tripod of agriculture, commerce and technology powered by a robust education policy.
The former SA to former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu said Aba is an economy waiting to be organised and promised to develop it in such a way that people would willingly pay the legitimate levies even as he promised to run a government of accountability and transparency devoid of corruption if elected governor of the state.
He lamented that there was no good road in Aba nor in any of the markets and wondered how the economy would grow.
“I will not have the heart to take N1 billion Abia money as security vote; I will use it to provide free education from secondary to tertiary level.”
The APGA candidate also condemned a situation in which he said there has not been local government election in the state since 2007 and promised to conduct local government election within six months in office in order to attract development and employment to the rural areas.
