Abia APC governorship ticket open to all – Spokesman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has said that its governorship ticket is not zoned to any part of the state ahead of the 2019 elections.

The state APC publicity secretary, Comrade Benedict Godson, who said the governorship ticket was open to all Abians, stated that the delegates would decide the fate of the candidates.

The party said no single individual within the party, no matter how highly placed, that could determine where the next governor of the state would come from in 2019, he said.

Comrade Godson said the party needed to embrace internal democracy in order to strengthen its chances in the general elections.

Commenting on the presidential posters of Chief Orji Uzor Kalu that flooded Umuahia, the publicity secretary said the former governor denied knowledge of such development when he was contacted.

He said the pasting of presidential posters was the handiwork of the PDP.

“They have seen the growth of the party in the state. They are threatened and afraid of the growth of the party. Orji Uzor Kalu is not contesting for president. The party in the state is comfortable with the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari,” ” Godson said.

“We believe in his good relationship with the Igbos, that is why he will be in Abia for the mega rally coming up next month. And we will tell Abians that we have come to take over the government house come 2019,” Godson said.
