The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured all Muslim faithful in the state of their safety and freedom at all times.
The leader of the APC Caucus, Chief Sam Nkire, in his Eid el-Kabir message to Muslims in the state, said Muslims were free to live and do their lawful businesses in any part of the state without molestation.
Nkire said that Abia State indigenes traditionally welcomed strangers with open arms, being travellers and business people themselves.
The APC leader further said that it would be foolhardy of Abians to be hostile to strangers back home and expect to be harboured and treated otherwise by their host communities outside the state.
Chief Nkire prayed for the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians, irrespective of their tribes and religions, wherever they may find themselves.
He also used the occasion of the Eid celebrations to condemn hate speeches and all forms of activities which suggest hatred or actions capable of leading to discrimination and misunderstanding among strangers and indigenes within Abia State.
