A former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged winner of the Benue South senatorial election.
Moro scored 85, 162 votes to beat his main challenger, Steven Lawani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 47, 972 votes.
The senatorial seat is currently being occupied by a former Senate president, David Mark.
The former minister won in all the nine local government areas of the zone, leaving the Social Democratic Party’s candidate, Chief Mike Onoja with 29,901 and APDA candidate, Alhaji Usman Abubakar (Young Alhaji), 5,504.
The result was declared yesterday in Otukpo by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Aunde Anune.
