A 72-yr-old man, Mr Falana Jimoh Taiwo, has asked an Agege, Lagos, customary court to end his 13-year-old marriage to his wife, Funke, alleging she is too troublesome.
Taiwo, a herbalist of No. 8, Adekunle Street, Agege, married to seven wives, told the court yesterday that Funke’s quarrelsome nature was preventing him from attending many important meetings.
He said that his wife, with whom he has three sons, once poured a bucket of water on his brother who just came back from London. He also alleged Funke accosted one of his wives who was on her to Ibadan and beat her up. “I am tired of her. I plead with this court in the name of God to dissolve this marriage and to give me my children,” he begged.
Funke, who did not deny any of Taiwo’s allegations against her, accused him of using supernatural means in marrying her.
She said she became bitter when her husband allegedly handed Amidat, her child, to one of his other wives and the girl died after some weeks, adding that was the reason why she accosted the woman and beat her up.
She pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage.
The court president, Mrs R.N. Abiola, adjourned the case till November 22, 2018 for next hearing.
