Five suspected kidnappers were yesterday killed by a mob at Gidan Garkuwa village of Sabuwa local government area of Katsina State, Daily Trust learnt.
The kidnappers, numbering over 20, stormed the village at about 1am shooting sporadically to scare off residents.
During the attack, which lasted close to two hours, many persons were injured while some are still missing.
“Moments after the attack, some residents mobilised themselves and confronted the kidnappers leading to the death of five of them,” a source said.
The kidnappers also attacked the residence of one Tanimu Maitaken Kudi were they kidnapped a woman and her daughter in the house.
When contacted, the police command spokesman SP Gambo Isah said the incidence happened at a village called Yartukunya and only three persons were killed. He gave their names as Alhaji Bello and one Nagagara, adding that the two were for long suspected to be kidnappers by the residents. The third is yet to be ascertained.
According to him, the police were able to rescue the woman and the confrontation was after the attack when the kidnappers are heading to the bush.
