Five additional health facilities in Katagum local government area have undergone a 72-hour makeover.
The facilities had their maternity and family planning units renovated, provided with equipment and consumables, while some of the facilities underwent complete renovation.
The makeover was part of efforts to reposition health facilities to provided better healthcare delivery being carried out by the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA) with support from The Challenge Initiative (TCI).
Commissioning the facilities, wife of Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar, described the makeover as a good innovation which will promote family planning services.
Mrs Abubakar, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Zuwaira Hassan Ibrahim, disclosed that the state government has trained health workers on long active reversible contraceptives and other measures to promote Primary Health Care, maternal, child and reproductive health.
She called on women of reproductive age to access services provided by FP clinics.
Speaking, the Executive Chairman, State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA), Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa, said the makeover would provide quality services and privacy to clients.
In her remark, the TCI state project Coordinator, Mrs Rabi Ekele said the 72 hour makeover was not limited to the unit only, but covers the entire maternity section to provide qualitative services to women and encourage them to come back for child birth spacing after delivery. She added that TCI also provides technical support to the state to create demand for family planning services by community members.
The facilities renovated included the family planning units of General Hospital Azare, Town Maternity, Makara Huta,Tàtari Ali and Bulkachuwa PHC.
Speaking, the officer-in-charge of Town Maternity Azare, Rabiatu Sabo, said that the makeover would help improve services for family planning clients coming to the health facilities.
