Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the businessman said he did not continue with the sponsorship of the league because he left the FCT to serve Imo State as Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha.
He said now that he is back to the FCT, he will get in touch with the FCT Football Association so that together, they will continue from where they stopped.
Kanu promised that it is going to be one hundred per cent sponsorship for the Abuja Football League because there are a lot of talents to be discovered at the grassroots.
His words “What happened was that I got a job as a public servant. I was working as the Special Adviser to Governor Rochas Okorocha. I left the FCT for a while but I am now back to the private sector. So I am going back to sponsor the Abuja Football League”.
“We have just appointed a new General Manager for Daniel Kanu Youth Foundation. She will make contact with the league for the sponsorship but that is something we are doing hundred per cent.
“So I am using this opportunity to call on the FCT FA to come forward for us to discuss on how we can continue on what we started because the impact we made in the past was enormous. I derived joy in seeing these youth people participate in sports and we hope to continue with that”.
Kanu also explained why he disbanded the football club that he floated to compete for honours in the FCT Football League.
