The chairman of Nigeria National League, NNL, side, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke has called on government at all levels to develop sporting activities at the grassroots level for positive engagement of youths.
Adegoke, who spoke during the NNL match between 3SC and Osun United said this is necessary to enhance unity and progress in the country.
Adegoke said “There are many social vices in Nigeria to which we can prevent if government invest in grassroots sports. The government should develop our own local football clubs. By this many youths will be engaged and will shun social vices. When youths are fully engaged, they will have no time to commit crimes.
“I am happy that our team, 3SC won today against our neighbours. As you are all aware, Osun State was created out of Oyo State.
“We all need to join hands to return the past glory to 3SC by ensuring that it returns to the NPFL. I had given 3,000 dollars to 3SC and I will continue to contribute my quota for the upliftment of the team,” he said.
