38 days after abduction of Chibok girls

With the #bringbackourgirls movement, the issue has taken an international stage, and Nigerian government has unanimously agreed that something must be done about it.
The Nigerian government initially thought it was like any other incident in the past; the government appeared adamant, perhaps ready to sweep it under the carpet just like the Baga, Gonin Gora, and Zaki Biam incidences. Unfortunately, much attention has not been given to the issue here at home.
There was the World Economic Forum on Africa (WEFA), political gatherings, etc, even the so-called umbrella union of Nigerian students, NANS, didn’t do anything. They are there in the Abuja confab taking their national share, the NLC, etc, chai !!, chai !!!, There is God ooo!. They are supposed to have joined the #bring back our girls campaign, perhaps declaring some days, class, lecture free, work free in solidarity with the parents of these girls, but nothing happened, only Obi Ezekwesili, Hadiza Bala Usman “dey waka in Abuja” saying #bring back our girls.
America, China, France, Israel, have sent in their expert teams to help Nigerian forces. Perhaps Niger, Gambia, Gabon and even Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe will soon send theirs then that will be when Nigeria will become a base for international forces. Nigeria should no more portray itself as the giant of Africa, South Africa, Ethiopia should perhaps take the title, as for us, we are embattled and at the mercy of insurgency.
Nigerian student unionism like all others in the country has proven to be dead. The #bring back our girls campaign should have emanated from Nigerian students by making those days prayer days in order to make the movement more effective. I pray the girls would be back home safely, but until then, solidarity and sympathy is very important as it increases unity.
God bless Nigeria.
