The police in Ogun State have arrested three suspected internet fraudsters, widely known in Nigeria as Yahoo boys, for allegedly stealing female panties.
The suspects, according to the police, were suspected members of a deadly cult gang, the Eiye confraternity, which was was learnt had been terrorizing residents of the Agbowa area of Ogun State.
The suspects, identified as Olagboye Abidemi, 32; Olasemojo Michael, 28, and Wasiu Waheed, 23, were, according to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, arrested on Friday May 10, 2019 when a police team stormed an initiation ceremony of the confraternity in Agbowa.
Oyeyemi said that the Divisional Police Officer of the Ogijo division, Muhammed Suleman Baba, while leading his men of Operation Puff Adder on routine patrol, got information about an ongoing initiation ceremony of the cult group.
He said the police team place consequently stormed the initiation venue and arrested three members of the cult.
He said the arrested suspects had confessed their membership of the illegal Eiye confraternity.
“Recovered from them are one jack knife, one blood-stained silver knife, one female panties tied with charms and other assorted charms,” he added.
