Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a youth group, ONE, held a summit to sensitise youths on the need to vote wisely under a campaign tagged #VoteYourFuture.
At the summit in Abuja at the weekend, where thousands of youths were in attendance, the group said ýit sought to continue the trend of voting based on issues that would build Nigeria.
ONE said the #VoteYourFuture campaign was a non-partisan governance campaign centered on the 2019 elections with the objective of promoting youths’ participation in the elections and issue-based voting.
ONE Country Director, Serah Makka-Ugbabe, said, “The non-partisan #VoteYourFuture campaign is all about reinforcing the known fact that your action of voting (or not voting) affects your future.
“It affects the future of your family, your children, and can have an impact on your advancement in life. Voting matters. Not only that, how you vote matters. How you select the candidates is of critical importance,” she said.
A popular hip hop star, Falz, while speaking at the event, said Nigerian youths must ensure that they voted for candidates that knew the real problems facing the citizens and proffered solutions on how to solve them.
