The Sule Lamido Youth Mobilization of Nigeria (SLYMN) has said the former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido deserved to be presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming 2019 election due to his loyalty to the party, credibility and transparency.
The group made the disclosure through its National Coordinator, Abdulhadi Abdullahi Sani (Cokali) in an interview with Daily Trust in Jos on Monday.
Alhaji Sani explained that Lamido deserved to be the PDP presidential candidate for the 2019 because of the way he resisted the temptation of defecting from PDP before and after 2015 elections.
He said, “Lamido stayed in the PDP and built the party and if people like Lamido leave the party all the defectors wouldn’t come back and get a properly structured party.”
The group explained that based on records and history, there was no credible, trustworthy and detribalized presidential aspirant in PDP above Lamido.
He added "When you trace the antecedents and pedigrees of all aspirants that have so far shown their interest to contest under PDP, nobody can match Sule Lamido’s integrity, transparency and steadfastness in uniting the party members. Nobody can also say that he was tribalistic" .
The group added that what Lamido did when he was the governor of Jigawa state, infrastructural development, security and health among others were unmatched by the aspirants that have declared their interest so far.
