The president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Samuel Ocheho has described the just concluded Prudent Energy Handball League as a huge success.
Speaking to Trust Sports, Ocheho expressed happiness at the success while revealing that new players have been during the league season.
It will be recalled that Kano Pillars and Safety Babes emerged champions in the male and female leagues on Wednesday.
“I’m excited as we have been able to come to the successful completion of the 2019 edition.
“From what I have seen, it was great as we saw a lot of younger players coming through. A new set of players have emerged. We saw a lot of upsets, and we saw there were no dominant teams till the end of the league on Wednesday.
“The champions emerged on the very last day and for me, it’s a testament to the fact that the league is growing.
“We saw teams training and looking for how to outwit one another. I rate this year’s edition higher than last year,” he said.
Ocheho further stated that the Federation will present an improved proposal to the league’s sponsor, Prudent Energy ahead of next season.
“We are going into planning mode ahead of 2020 edition. At the moment, there is nothing on board yet.
“The concentration was mainly on the 2019 edition and we have a 5-year sponsorship. We shall make proposals to the sponsors and we hope they will understand with us,” he said.
