A former presidential spokesman, Doyin Okupe, has been appointed as the Chairman of Media Council for Senate President Bukola Saraki’s campaign organisation.
The Director General of the Saraki Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mohammed Wakil, announced Okupe’s appointment in a statement yesterday.
Okupe had served as “Director of Communications of the Presidential campaigns of two former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan and later served as senior special assistant on Media and Public Affairs to both Presidents.”

Reacting to the appointment, a group, Young Professionals in Politics, described Okupe’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole which would boost the presidential campaign of the Senate President in the media.
The group, in a statement on Tuesday by its Coordinator, Johnson Olorunfemi, said “We believe his long years of experience and outstanding performance in the various capacities he had served as a Presidential spokesperson would be brought to bear and add great value to the Presidential ambition of Senator Saraki.”
