The presidential candidate of National Conscience Party (NCP), Dr Yunusa Tanko, has picked Amb. Funmi James from Ekiti State as his running mate for the 2019 general elections.
Dr Tanko, a former Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and current national chairman of NCP, shortly after unveiling his running mate at the weekend in Abuja, pledged to create an additional state in the South-east if elected president.
He stated that his government would restructure Nigeria and ensure the people of the South South also benefitted tremendously from the resources of their region.
Tanko said the choice of the vice presidential candidate from the South-west was to attract massive votes from the zone for the party to win the race.
“The moment we take over the leadership of this country at the national level, we shall make efforts to create one additional state in the South-east to ensure equity, justice, peace and fair play,” he said.
