Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-rufai yesterday assured the people of the state that his administration would ensure that the 2011 political violence that claimed 800 lives across the state would not happen again.
He gave the assurance in Kaduna yesterday while interacting with Muslim and Christian religious leaders from the 23 local governments in the state.
The governor charged religious leaders to sensitize people against violence in the 2019 general elections
He said: “The present administration will make sure that the 2011 political violence that claimed 800 lives across the stats does not repeat itself.”
He said people should not be instigated against each other because of political differences.
He stated: “What happened in 2011 which claimed about 800 lives in the state must not be allowed to repeat itself. There is no need to cause crisis because of politics.
“People should be allowed to vote for people of their choice. I beg you to please educate and sensitize the people to always live in peace and harmony with each other. I want you as leaders to also tell them there is no need for crisis during election because God gives power to whomever He wishes.”
