2019: I'm taking Borno out of B/Haram trauma - Mamman
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress for Borno State, Idris Mamman, says he is in the race to take the state out of the insurgency trauma, foster peace and ensure good governance.
He spoke to journalists in Abuja Wednesday after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat.
He said he had developed a comprehensive agenda, adding that if elected, he would assemble a “powerful team of technocrats, experienced politicians, women, and youths to see how we can bring about the implementation of this agenda.”
Mamman, who is from Borno South Senatorial District, thanked stakeholders from the northern senatorial district of the state for buying  the nomination forms for him, promising not to disappoint them if elected.
“We’re just coming out of insurgency and our priority now is to foster peace, good governance and quick recovery. Our people have gone through a lot, and the onus is on us to quickly take them out of the trauma for prosperity and happiness to reign. We’ve no time to waste. We’ve to get going as quickly as possible and I’m very ready to take them to the next level.
“But first things first, I’ve to get the nomination of my party members across Borno State in the forthcoming governorship primary election after which I’ll approach the Borno electorate to complete the process they have started by voting for me to be governor and for our dear President Muhammadu Buhari to be returned for second term in office,” he said.
Mamman expressed optimism that President Buhari’s re-election would completely end the Boko Haram insurgency.
