The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Joseph Mukan, says with the collaboration of journalists in reporting objectively, there will be a peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections in the state.
Mukan, stated this yesterday while receiving the leadership of the federated correspondents’ chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
According to him, if the media properly educate the electorate, especially youths, on the danger of thuggery and violence during elections, they will not yield to the temptation from the political class to involve themselves in violent activities.
“Anybody who has the interest of the masses at heart will not cause violence in elections. But with the preparation by INEC and the security agencies, we are optimistic that Bayelsa will have most peaceful election in 2019.”
