2018 annual Jos Polo tourney gallops off today

All is set for the 2018 annual Jos polo event which will gallop off today, with about 26 teams across the country at the Jos polo field in Plateau State.

The event which is mainly sponsored by NASCO group is aimed at promoting the game of polo to become a powerful factor for unity, peace and progress across all classes of people within the country.

NASCO group’s Corporate Communications & Compliance Advisor, Haroun Harry Audu, said yesterday at a pre-tournament press briefing that the company had in the past four decades consistently sponsored and supported the game of polo in Nigeria, adding that the dedication is aimed at amplifying the values of love, togetherness and devotion to the bring out the best of “our shared humanity, particularly amongst our young people.”

Audu explained that NASCO’s continued involvement in the Jos polo tournament is predicated on several critical parameters, including to invest in promotion and sustenance of peace in the state through sports.

“The Annual Jos Polo Tournament enjoys the repute of being a meeting and melting point for social, business and tourism activities, with diverse multiplier effects within and across the socio-economic fabric of the state. NASCO Group is keenly aware of and determined to make a modest contribution in improving and growing the national and international clout of the Jos Polo Tournament, which offers a unique opportunity for persons and entities of goodwill to partner with the Plateau State Government in the common quest to make Plateau State a tourism hub in Nigeria and West Africa,” he said.

Daily Trust gathered that NASCO group has contributed to uplifting and advancing the status of the Jos annual Polo tournament by rehabilitating and branding of the NASCO Grandstand/VIP Pavilion; renovations of horses’ stables; upgrade of the games scoreboard; beautification of the Jos Polo clubhouse exterior as well as supporting the major restoration of the Hassan Usman Katsina Polo field among others.
