Two women, 22-year-old Morenikeji Fasa and Kemi Oyewole, 21, were arraigned yesterday before an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court, EkitiState, for allegedly breaking into a home and stealing.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, told the court that Fasaand Oyewole committed the offence on July 24, 2020 at about 8pm at No. 24, Afatilo Street, off Oke-Ila, Ado-Ekiti. Leramo alleged that the defendants entered into the residential building and apartment of James Stella and Mary Adako.The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants stole two bags containing clothes and underwear valued at N25,000, property of the complainants.
He further stated that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace in a public place bypouring water inside the room of the complainants and padlocking their rooms with other keys.
Leramo asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.Fasa and Oyewole pleaded not guilty to the charges read to them.
Their counsel, Mr Omowumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising they would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Abdulhamid Lawal granted the defendants bail in thesum of N50,000, with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case until August 3, 2020 for hearing.
