A gang of dare-devil armed robbers yesterday stormed Ile-Oluji in Ondo State and attacked two banks killing four people including two policemen.
Daily Trust gathered that the robbers first went to First Bank, gained entry by using dynamite to blow open the entrance, before gaining access to the strong room.
During the operation two people were said to have been killed. The gang, said to be well armed, also headed to Polaris Bank but were said to have met strong resistance despite using dynamite to gain access.
However, at the end of the operation, four persons were said to have been killed including two policemen.
When contacted, spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the robbery operation.
He said it was difficult to confirm the number of casualties as at the time of filling this report as the force was discussing with the banks and offices affected.
The identities of the victims were also not known especially the civilians involved.
Joseph however said the command had deployed men to the place and they were on the trail of the robbers.
The incident, according to witnesses took place at about 4pm and was said to have lasted for about 40 minutes.
Daily Trust also gathered that local hunters have joined in the pursuit of the gang.
