2 men arraigned for fighting in public

Two men, Emmanuel Oche, 42, and Babatunde Jide, 34, have been arraigned by the police before A Grade One Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for fighting in public.

A fight was said to have ensued between the defendants when the first defendant, after a misunderstanding, used an object and burst the second defendant’s vehicle tyre, who was on his way to distribute bread to his customers.

The Prosecution Counsel, Bar. Adeyanju Ayotunde, told the court that during police investigation, it was revealed that the defendants engaged in a public fight in which the second defendant inflicted injuries on the first defendant.

The defendants were charged on three count charges of disturbance of public peace, causing harm and mischief, contrary to sections 133, 246 and 327 of the Penal Code Law.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Judge, Ismail Abdullahi, admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000 each and a reasonable surety with valid identity card and adjourned the case till 10th March 2020.
