19th NSF cricket: Edo women beat Lagos with 37 runs

Edo’s women cricket team yesterday defeated their Lagos counterparts with 37 runs at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abuja.

Edo, having elected to bat first, scored 143/1 after 20 overs in the first innings.

In the second innings, Lagos scored 106 runs for the loss of seven wickets after 20 overs.

Favour Esiegbe of Edo, having scored 48 runs off 59 balls and having taken four wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs, emerged the Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, in the hockey event, Delta women outclassed their Ondo State counterparts 3-0.

Margaret Aben’s brace in the 11th and 35th minutes, alongside Roselyn Oghenevo’s 22nd minute goal, left the Ondo State team demoralised. (NAN)
