The National University Commission has granted full accreditation to 18 courses offered by the Sokoto state University.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sani Dangoggo disclosed this at a meeting between management and the governing board of the university.
The Emir of Dutse and the piooner -chancellor of the university, Alhaji Nuhu Sanusi presided over the meeting held at the conference room of the university. The Emir was supported by its pro- Chancellor and National Vice Chairman, North-West zone of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir.
Dangogo said 18 courses were fully accredited and another five received interim accreditation.
According to him, this would not have been possible without the sustained commitment of the state government.
In his remarks, Emir Nuhu congratulated the governing board of the institution for the accreditation, saying they would work harder to make the university one of the best in the country.
He however, emphasized on courses that would give youth jobs not only education.
"We should de-emphasize qualification. We have to give them the education that they will not go back to the government looking for job.We should not emphasize on qualification which can be bought," he said
He said that they would work with the governing council to get adequate fund for the school.
Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor, Abdulkadir said a large facility was donated by the state government for the take-off of medical courses in the school.
