Senator Joseph Waku has congratulated president Muhammadu Buhari over the successful conduct of peaceful election in Anambra State.
In a phone chat, Waku said the election confirmed that president Buhari is a true democrat who believes in the conduct of free and fair elections.
He said that the president has kept to his words and shame his critics in the opposition by not interfering in the election process and allowing the people to elect their choice.
The senator also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for allowing the process to go smoothly and remained neutral throughout the voting and collation process.
He said that the electoral body has also shown that it has been reformed and believes in transparency, due process and the rule of law unlike in the past when some unscrupulous elements from within and outside were allowed to dictate and hijack the process to serve their political interests.
Waku also commended security agencies for their diligence which ensured that law and order is maintained throughout the election period and provided security of lives and properties for the people and protected them from threats.
He said that they have maintained their neutrality by remaining non-partisan and allowing the election to be conducted in a free atmosphere without molestation.
He also commended governor Willie Obiano for his victory saying that his return as governor has confirmed that he is working for the people.
He called on others who contested against him to join hands with him in order to move the state forward while urging the governor to work with them in the spirit of good sportsmanship adding that politics should not be seen as a ‘Do-or-Die’affair.
