Activities at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri, Imo state were temporarily brought to a halt yesterday following a protest carried out by the National Medical and Health Care Workers Union of Nigeria and Joint Health Sector union against the reinstatement of the embattled medical director, Dr.Angela Uwakwem.
The members who stormed Owerri from all parts of the country in their great numbers moved round the streets of Owerri before storming the FMC at the Orlu road
Addressing workers, the national president of the Medical and Health Care Workers Union of Nigeria and the chairman Joint Health Sector Union Comrade Biabelemoye Josiah said the invitation of the embattled MD by the EFCC over corruption and subsequent charge to court was enough for government to change rather than bring her back.
